Globe Kit Purchase

The 14" Globes are now made by a CNC machine. Its really cool, see a video here. Rick Turman at Reliable Formed Plastics is a Christmas light enthusiast himself and will make all the 14" Globes. The holes are now more precise and they are made from a UV resistant ABS plastic that is less brittle than the acrylic hemispheres were. Also, ABS plastic is thinner and the holes are now of a size that the CCPs can be snapped into place. No need to use hot glue!

There are three parts to a globe kit: 14" Globe Assembly, Conduit Assembly, and Mega Tree 24 Peg Hook Head.

  1. 14" Globe Assembly
    1. 2 - 14" White ABS Plastic Hemispheres with 1/2" Flange, 4 small holes drilled into the flange.
      1. 200 holes (31/64) drilled and numbered (100 in each Hemisphere). CCPs will snap into holes.
      2. Bottom Hemisphere has large center hole cut, and 1 3/8" hole cut for cable exit
    2. 1 - 15" ABS Plastic Disc for center. Has 1 3/8" hole cut for cable exit
    3. 4 Bolts, washers, lock washers, nuts to attach conduit assembly to disc
    4. 4 Bolts, washers, lock washers, nuts to hold hemispheres together
  2. Conduit Assembly
    1. 1 - 12" length 1 1/2" conduit for the globe, threaded at one end
      1. Bracket welded to end of conduit
      2. Entire assembly is green powder coated
    2. 1 - 18" length 1 1/2" conduit for top of mast, threaded at both ends
  3. Mega Tree 24 Peg Hook Head

Customer has a 24 strand tree with 50 pixels in each strand and a 14" globe at the top.


He had some very strong winds blow the tree down, some parts of the tree broke, but the globe survived! A testimonial to the strength of the ABS Plastic that the globes are made of.
